As i mentioned in a previous post here are some process pictures of a yet to be named cinematic machine.

Laser cutting the lid and grill.

Rubbed down ready for another coat of paint.

Final coat of paint, holes drilled for the strap bolts. strap bolts and washers polished. Still loads left to do.

Putting the final outline around one of the graphics Sam Brit and me ( WT&G) have been doing over the last couple of months in the stairwell of the Soho based production company The Moving Picture Company.

We have loads of footage and photos of this project, but its proving rally hard to find time in between Uni work during the week and weekends at MPC drawing to upload anything. I didn't even manage to blog the fact that the project graced the pages of Design Week a few weeks ago!
I'll dig out my copy of that and upload a little pic of that soon.

I went to see my tattooist today to get some more work done on my arm.

I haven't been for ages so it was good to get some bits finished off, and some new bits started.

here are some pictures of stuff as it happened - i'll probably post a better picture of the cyclist when his plus fours and argyle socks get done!

On Friday night Brit Sam and me or Waggott,Tripp&Graham I should say, showed our GO SCAN YOURSELF project at Electrowerkz near Angel Tube station. The space was amazing, and the people very welcoming and friendly. We would also like to give a big thanks to Tom Banks for inviting us to show at the first place!

The Design and print a zine based on last weeks work and distribute at the 'Design Cafe' within half an hour challenge.

Today is the first of December and we have been trying to get into the spirit of things here in the studio by listening to Bob Dylan's new Christmas album. (go and watch the video on his website)

New Poster.

Before moving my project forward I'm spending a little time going over what I have done so far, to hopefully give me a better understanding of where I'm going. Today I re-made the poster I posted a wile back (scroll down) to fit inside my briefing document that I should finish tomorrow.

Folds to around A6 and will slide into the other document - which I will put up tomorrow.

Today was cold and raining so I took the opportunity to hide in the warm and re-make a booklet about the week long drawing project we did a few weeks ago. Here is a few snaps - I'm still not totally happy with it, a few more tweaks and i'll take some proper photos of the finished article.

All this week as i have mentioned before we have been on a project run my El Ultimo Grito where we had to use three or more pound shop items to create new fictional future object, and a short story to help give the object some context and background.
This morning was crit time, and there was some really exciting stuff about. (i should have taken some pictures really).
My pound shop object, turned into a personal pollen count device. you may be wondering what that is?

well my definition was...

"Personal pollen count device.

Intolerance to pollen has reached epidemic proportions.

The pollen count at the end of the weather forecast has become insufficient due to the inaccuracy

of having only a few places where the reading is taken.

Personal pollen count devices start to appear,

calibrated to the owner’s own allergies and needs. "

Today we hung our posters in the studio we made over the last day and a bit charting the direction we want to take our final third year project.
Mine lists the 100 highest grossing films of all time and sorts them into the 7 plot catigories as described in Christopher Booker's book "The Seven Basic Plots".
the challenge now is to turn our areas of interest into proper briefs by monday.

Today I'm mostly working on the installation me Sam and Brit are showing at 'Tent Digital' this year, and listening to Wolfie M. It's kind of nice just in the background.

I don't normally post about my design work (I'm in the process of building a dedicated portfolio site) but....

We recently entered a competition run by Dezeen to win exhibition space at 'Tent Digital', a new part of the Tent London exhibition during London Design Festival. All very exciting stuff!

Anyway, i went out with Mike my housemate yesterday exploring in and around the docklands and the isle of dogs.

He had been mentioning this small American diner he went to, and said we should go seeings we were near.

i was not expecting it to be so cool, it said on the back of the menu that it was built in the 40's and used in Pennsylvania next to a railway, then brought over here some time in the late 90's.

everything was original. i highly recommend finding it.

I'd give directions, but i cant find any at the mo. sorry.

Tell 'Jonathan' to FUCK OFF and put something better on.

Took a quick spin down Bournemouth sea front to peep the progress of Bournemouth surf reef and the Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway designed 'pods'. Basically beach huts for people with lots of money. looks quite interesting. Ill chuck some more pictures up on Flickr when i eventually sort it out..............(tomorrow, unless i can convince some one to play Pétanque with me!)

Tom Dixon Talk.

I went along to a talk by Tom Dixon last night (Fri night) which is a part of an ongoing series of talks at the V&A. I really enjoyed the way in which he talked about his career so far, claiming that most of it has been based on him knowing little or nothing about the projects he has got into. It's kind of reassuring that even the professionals don't know what they are doing sometimes.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next one.

(The lecture theater was amazing too, exactly as you would expect in a museum, all musty with brass railings and uncomfortable seats with cushions that probably haven't been changed since the 70's. brilliant.)

Sunday Night

On Sunday night at about 11 o'clock, we decided to go out and play in the snow, thinking that it would probably be all slushy and rubbish by the morning. It was an epic arctic exploration attempt that took us to one of the steepest roads in London, so we could slide all the way down it on a make shift sled. (Oh and the hill in the video isn't the mega hill I just mentioned, just in case you thought I was exaggerating.)
